Gyr Khan

Gyr, cruzado hispano-camarguais, et son copain Garpur qui ont tous les deux 30 ans, sont aujourd'hui les doyens du troupeau.
Le nom de Gyr Khan vient du vieux germanique indogermanique "gir" ou "gyr" désigant le gyrfalco ou faucon gerfaut, réputé en fauconnerie pour sa proximité avec l'homme et ses qualités de chasseur. "Khan" de l'ancien mongol signifiant "prince" est un titre honorifique des peuples cavaliers de l'Est pour "celui que chevauche devant".
A lui seul, Gyr est une déjà légende de par une fougue, force, endurance et sureté de pied qui cherchent leur pareil. Il s'est forgé une sacrée réputation pendant ses années d'activité au service de l'ONF !
Gyr Khan est le cheval de cœur de Marie-Jeanne, co-fondatrice de l'association. Pour mieux le préserver, il coule maintenant sa retraite à Louley ou dans les prés de Hernan avec son copain Garpur qu'il adore et dont il est devenu inséparable.
Gyr Khan est exceptionnellement proche de l'homme. Il a un besoin énorme de contact et adore les enfants.

Gyr and his pony-friend Garpur are now 30 years old and the herd's eldest.
Gyr Khan is an iberian-camargue halfblood. His name comes form ancient german "gir" : the "gyrfalco" or gyrfalcon is the strongest preybird in falconry known for its deep connexion with humans. "Khan" springs from the ancient mongol word for "prince" and has ever since been a honourable title given by Eastern people of horsemen to the one "who rides in front".
Gyr Khan already is a living legend. His extreme fiery strengths, endurance and sure-footedness are almost unrivalled and have given him a singular reputation through his many years of service with the French State Forest Police.
Gyr Khan is the heart-horse of Marie-Jeanne, co-founder and vice-president of the association. In order to preserve her ageing horse it has been decided that he now lives a life of active though peaceful retirement. This is what he does, either in Louley or in the vast pastures of Hernan, always in unseperable togetherness with his pal Garpur.
Gyr is exceptionally close to humans, has a vital need of contact and loves children !
